Maavar L’Tikvah - Ceremony of Hope, Celebrate Yom Haatzmaut with Food, Art, Words, Prayer and Music
Tuesday, May 14, 5:30-8:00 PM | CSAIR Social Hall
Between Yom HaZikaron and Yom Haatzamut many participate in a ceremony of transition that helps us move from grief to celebration.
5:30 PM: Hatikvah Community Collage for Kids
Led by CSAIR member Joy Langer, children age 9 and younger and their grown-ups are invited to create words and images on fabric squares expressing our “berachot” or hopes and blessings for Israel in the coming year. These squares will be sewn together and displayed as a holistic artistic creation, inspired by the Israeli flag, of our community’s aspirations for Israel and her future.
6:00 PM: Hatikvah Community Collage for Adults
Adults are welcome to participate and create words and images on fabric squares expressing our “berachot” or hopes and blessings for Israel in the coming year
6:15 PM: Israeli “Hotel Breakfast” for Dinner including a Shakshuka Bar

Shabbat Yisraelit
Friday, January 19 | 5:30 PM
To welcome Israelis into our community, CSAIR will host a Kabbalat Shabbat including Israeli songs and poetry followed by a Shabbat dinner of Israeli food, singing of Israeli songs, and card games for kids. Members of our community who are not Israeli are very warmly welcome to come. The evening will be conducted mostly in Hebrew (with a bit of English.) We are pleased to offer complimentary dinners to Israelis who have been in the community for less than a year.

CSAIR Lawyers Explore The Judicial Crisis In Israel

Following Shabbat morning kiddush, a discussion facilitated by Ariela Migdal, Eric Fisher, and Dror Bikel will explore the underlying legal issues that gave rise to the current crisis in Israel.
-Dror Bikel worked as a Foreign Law Clerk to Justice Gabriel Back, Supreme Court of Israel.
-Eric Fisher graduated from Columbia University School of Law and worked as Assistant US Attorney and Foreign Law Clerk to Justice Mishael Cheshin, Supreme Court of Israel.
-Ariela Migdal clerked for the Israel Public Defender in Nazareth in 2002-2003 and at the U.S. Supreme Court for Justice Stephen Breyer.
