New Teen Learning Experience Set to Launch in Fall 2017

As we plan our new Teen Learning Experience to launch in Fall 2017, we are collecting information from families with teens who are/or may be interested in participating in a teen learning experience. Please complete the form to help us create a program that best meets the needs of your teen/s.

We are envisioning a weekly experience for teens engaging in substantive and meaningful Jewish learning, develop strong peer relationships and create a dynamic learning community in an enjoyable environment. As our teens have a diverse range of prior experiences in Jewish learning, we are looking to create two learning tracks to meet the range of learning needs and interests.

Track I will challenge students to think deeply and critically about Jewish issues related to theology, history, Israel, identity and practice. This track will be open to all 9th-12th graders and will require no minimum level of Jewish knowledge, Hebrew skills or previous Jewish learning.

Track II will focus on the skills of Hebrew language development and Jewish textual analysis. The participants in this track will need a minimum of an intermediate level of Hebrew reading comprehension and will study the Hebrew texts in supported Hebrew. This track is intended for students who attended a Jewish day school or received a Jewish education commensurate with a Jewish day school through middle school.

Participants in both tracks will meet at the same time - eating and schmoozing together before and after the parallel class instruction. Our current plan is for these groups to meet at CSAIR on Shabbat morning from 10:45am - 12:15pm - (approximately from the end of the Torah service until the start of Kiddush.)

It is our hope that teens will choose to participate in this new learning experience as well as volunteer as Project Chaverim Teen Fellows.
