Young Children's Family Program (Ages 0-5)
The Young Children’s Family Program provides spiritual, educational, and social activities for children to age 5 and their families. Each Shabbat and on holidays, young children meet for age-appropriate and spirited worship services that include prayer, song, stories, and dancing.
YCFP offers an opportunity for young children and their families to engage in fun and meaningful ways with our Jewish traditions and lets families with young children make new connections with one another, whether through planning a Young Children’s Havurah service together or chatting over an ice-cream kiddush.
Shabbat Shelanu is held twice per month. It is led by a professional, long-time early childhood educator, and includes tefillot (prayers), songs, storytelling, a Torah Parade, and shmoozing time. It is followed by a kiddush, often sponsored by families in honor of a child’s birthday.
Young Children’s Havurah is held once per month. It is entirely parent-led and features a creative activity related to the parsha (Torah reading of the week) or holiday.
During the year, YCFP welcomes children and their families to special programming celebrating the uniqueness and treasures of the Jewish calendar. These include children’s services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Sundaes in the Sukkah, a Chanukah Pajama Party, Tu B’Shevat seed and tree planting, and a Purim Carnival with storytelling, face painting, and crafts.
Nursing mothers are welcome to use the Nursing Lounge off the Main Lobby. Changing tables are available in the Men’s Room and Women’s Room off the Main and Downstairs Lobbies.
At most kiddushes, size appropriate tables are set up so that children have a comfortable place to eat.
Perhaps most importantly, children are always welcome in all services in the synagogue.

Got Shabbat and Pick-up Davenning (ages 6 - 10)
Join in a skit about the Torah portion of the week, lead the service, chant from the Torah, play games, and discover the meaning of the prayers at our Got Shabbat and Pick-Up Davenning Services. The Pick-Up Davenning kiddush offers a special feature – a sheet cake decorated with a picture from the weekly Torah reading. Children join the congregation each week in the Main Sanctuary for the singing of the closing hymns, Ein Keloheinu and Adon Olam (and then, more kiddush!).
Hanging in the Boardroom (ages 10 - 12)
"Hangin' in the Board Room" is a lively and discussion based Shabbat program for kids ages 10-12 each Shabbat morning. Activities include acting out the parshat hashavuah with scripts and costumes for younger kids, debating controversial topics in the week's Torah portion, competing in a parsha quiz, and winning the weekly scavenger hunt. Each week promises something different for kids Hangin' in the Board Room.
Teen Services & Programs
USY and Kadima
Our synagogue teens participate actively in the synagogue’s chapter of United Synagogue Youth (high school) and Kadima (middle school) www.usy.org. Through USY, our teens create an environment in which they can express themselves creatively and contribute to the Jewish tradition through innovation and exploration of forms of worship and ritual.
USY regional conferences and activities provide opportunities for teens to form friendships with their peers throughout the N.Y. metropolitan area and engage in social activities that reflect an appreciation for and love of Jewish values, Judaism, and the State of Israel.
Madrichim Training Program is an intensive leadership training program for teen volunteers that meets on Sunday mornings.
